Tailored Stays
A tailored stay begins with a question: what do you want these days to feel like? From there, we design: private walks, archaeological excursions, beach days, and more. Paced to the people coming, not to a generic itinerary.
A private walking tour of the walled city, the bastions, the Cathedral, the casonas you wouldn't notice from outside. Two to three hours with a specialist who knows every block. Reference rate: private walking tour of the historic center from 25 USD per person (2 hours), with a certified guide, starting at your front door.
The classic route threads together the essentials of Campeche: the circuit of bastions along the wall, Independence Plaza with its Cathedral, the colored streets of the traditional San Román and Guadalupe quarters, the seafront malecón and San Miguel Fort, on the hills surrounding the fortified town, now an archaeological museum displaying the jade masks of Calakmul.
There are three ways to do it: the two hour walking tour in and around the walled precinct, starting at your front door; the extended five hour walking route, which adds the quarters and the malecón; and the five hour version by vehicle, which reaches the forts and lookouts on the hills. All are private, with a certified guide in Spanish or English, and the itinerary adapts to the group's pace and interests.
The tour includesEdzná, one hour away, a Maya site with a Five-Story Plaza. Calakmul, four hours into the jungle, one of the largest recorded Maya cities. Reference rate: private half day at Edzná from 80 USD per person with transport, guide and entrance fees; the per person rate drops for groups.
Just under an hour from the city walls, Edzná was the great Maya capital of the western peninsula: settled from 400 BC, it came to sustain some 25,000 inhabitants thanks to one of the most advanced hydraulic systems in the Maya world, with canals up to six kilometers long and reservoirs that harvested the valley's water. That is why it is known as the city of the water sorcerers. Its Great Acropolis brings together the Puuc, Chenes and Petén styles, crowned by the Five Story Building, which commands the entire valley from above.
The visit is private, with a certified official guide and round trip transport from your front door. An early start pays off: the site is best walked before the strong mid morning heat, when you will have it almost to yourself. And for those who want more, there is a sunrise version that pairs the ruins with a regional beach on the same outing.
The visit includesMangrove tours through coastal wetlands, morning sunbaths at Playa Bonita, a private day at the Country Club, or a full day south to Sabancuy, considered the finest beach in the state. Champotón for fresh seafood. Isla Aguada for paddle and dolphin sightings. Half or full day, paced to the group.
The Yucatán Peninsula is home to some of the most diverse birdlife in the Americas, herons, toucans, parrots, migratory species. A guided excursion into the surrounding wetlands and jungle, combined with a visit to an archaeological site hidden within the trees. Reference rate: birdwatching outing (4 hours) from 95 USD per person, with a specialist guide.
Four, six, or ten nights where every day is shaped, and some deliberately left open. Daily breakfast, transport, and a single point of contact throughout.
Edzná, an hour away by car, with its Five-Story Building; and Calakmul, deep in the jungle, one of the largest Maya cities on record. Full guides live in the Journal.
