In Campeche, the day can begin under the arches of a courtyard and end with a walk along the Gulf. In Holbox, it begins facing the sea. In Espita, between a garden and the village streets; in Seyé, among the trees; in Bacalar, watching the light change over the lagoon.
Casonas MX is part of Las Casas de la Península, a route that brings these five ways of traveling closer together. We share an attention to architecture, a bond with place and the people who welcome travelers. Each house has its own world. Getting to know one can be the start of the next trip.
The five houses

The island · Casa Cat Ba, Holbox
MICHELIN Guide · Hotel selection
A seafront villa in a village of sandy streets. At Casa Cat Ba, terraces, natural materials and local craftsmanship shape a stay open to the horizon. The house invites you out to explore Holbox and back to spend the afternoon between the breeze and the palm trees.

The village · Casona Los Cedros, Espita
MICHELIN Guide · Hotel selection
An old casona brought back to life opens the door to Espita, in eastern Yucatán. Behind it, rooms and terraces look onto a tropical garden. Stone, lime and a table of local flavors extend the encounter with the village: staying here also means giving yourself time to discover its daily life.

The cenotes · Galopina Casa Silvestre, Seyé
In Seyé, within the Ring of Cenotes reserve, Galopina spreads its suites across seven hectares of Yucatecan nature. The architecture follows the land and opens different views onto the vegetation. Between outings in the region and the return home, there is the pool, the table and the birdsong.

The walled city · Casonas MX, Campeche
MICHELIN Guide · Hotel selection with Casa Japa
Nine 18th-century casonas inside the walled city hold eleven accommodation units: seven heritage homes and four contemporary lofts, with hotel services and one local team. Step out the door and Campeche is yours on foot. Come back, and the courtyard becomes part of the trip.

The lagoon · Azul Nomeolvides, Bacalar
National Geographic Traveller (UK) · Experiences Collection 2026
Six A-frame cabins rise among the trees beside Bacalar lagoon. Their architecture and solar power are part of their relationship with the surroundings. After the road, the stay invites you to linger between the forest and the water, watching the light shift the lagoon’s colors.

One house, or several stages
Each project keeps its own identity, team and way of welcoming guests. Stay at one house, combine two or three, or travel to all five, in the order that best suits your trip. Bookings are made directly on each house’s website.
The map shows where they are; Plan your trip gathers ideas for combining them and planning journeys between the houses. In About the route we explain what we share.
Each house is a destination; together, they make the journey.
From Campeche, where to go next
Campeche sits at the center of the route, between inland Yucatán and the Caribbean. From here, the trip can continue in two directions:
- North, to the cenotes. Seyé is about 200 km (125 miles) away, roughly two and a half hours by road, with Becal and its jipi hats along the way. From there, Espita and Holbox complete the route toward the northern Caribbean.
- South, to the lagoon. Bacalar is about 430 km (267 miles) away through the forests of southern Campeche: the longest day of the route, with Becán along the way or an extra day for Calakmul. We cover it step by step in Campeche to Bacalar.
Suggested routes, with transfers and stops, are in Plan your trip.
